Why is health education so important?

Hi, everyone,
At least twice a week, I am asked the question, "What can I do with this degree in health education?" To that, I say, "What can you not do?" That is probably easier to answer. There has never been a better time to enter the field of health education and public health. With the focus on prevention at the forefront of our nation's agenda, the field is bursting open with opportunity in settings within community, non-profit, hospitals, schools, corporations, global organizations, federal and world health agencies, and health communications. In fact, the Society of Public Health Educators (SOPHE) has prepared this video clip to emphasize the need for this growing field and the importance for health education and public health in our life.
